The scene is Pasco, Washington. I heard stories of this place from an old departed friend. And the way he made it sound, it sounded like a town stuck in the 70s. And it called to me in a way few things did. This city still has a Piggily Wiggily grocery store. It has A & W drive in restaurants where the bell hops bring your food to you in a tray and hang it from your car window. It has not one but 2 drive in movie theaters.
This place is lost in time. And I love it here. I think I could live here and not feel restless.
I got a text message. It is from my brother. It simply says “Its your turn now, go back home.”
I know what that means. It means he no longer has drive to continue in SFT and wishes to take a break. It is fine. I found where I want to hang my hat. Pasco will still be here when I want to return. And I will return. In fact to make sure of it, I think I will rent an apartment today. I want assimilate myself as soon as possible.
I decided to by the local paper. The Pasco Times and look at several openings for apartments. Most are very simple and the rent is actually pretty reasonable. Its early in the morning here on the west coast, and so I start apartment hunting. I take a look at about 6 or 7 and all seem fine. My favorite looks to be in a gated community, it has several buildings inside and has a pool, a small park, its almost perfect. I call the number and ask to see the apartment. The lady on the other line says her name is Pamela. In a half hour I am there. Already taking a tour of the area and complex.
Pamela is a short stout woman, early 30’s. She has a few streaks of color in her hair and she seems to fidget with the end of her hair on her left side. She looks at me for a moment then looks away as she gives me details on the apartment.
Pamela: If you interested, we would need you to fill out an application, and give us some local references.
Jude: That might be a problem.
Pamela: Why is that?
Jude: I am not from here, I am thinking about moving here and of course need a place to live, I do not know anyone in this city or state.
Pamela: Oh? Well that wont be a problem then. You moving here for work?
Jude: No.
Pamela: Uhm then why?
Jude: I like this place, I want to stay here.
Pamela: Really? I have been trying to leave here for a long time, just never had money enough to leave.
Jude: Well Pamela I like this small town, I have been in a lot of places and nothing feels quite like this particular place.
(she seems to shrug off what I said and replies) “I’m sorry but where do I know you from? I have seen you before.
Jude: You and I do not know each other.
Pamela: Hmm, oh well I’ll figure it out.
(I did not wish to bring up the whole SFT and TV thing. I need my privacy and peace and quiet, not the circus attention that SFT brings.)
Pamela: Anyway rent is 750 a month. 300 deposit.
Jude: That sounds fine.
Pamela: OK lets fill out some paperwork and I think you should be good to probably move in tomorrow. But I will let you know for sure later today.
Jude: Perfect.
Pamela: What hotel are you staying at?
Jude: Probably I’ll stay at the Motel 6.
Pamela: ohhh the fancy one.
(And with that I love this city even more now. Motel 6 is the fancy one? Haha)
I soon arrive at the motel and check in. I check my info as to who I will be facing at Titans. Looks like I will be facing a new guy named Chris and an old one named Robert Saints. Chris aka Voodoo. I think your luck is about to run out when you face me. I am a god fearing man. And I take prejudice with anyone who thinks Voodoo or anything other than Christianity is the way to go. You are new here. And I am sure you already got a beat down from my brother Redd. Well I am going to finish what he started. And after its all said and done, I will save you. I will show you the way. And I hope you are smart enough to take a saving hand when its offered. Now I get to Robert Saints. You and I are not strangers. I don't know whats become of you? Laziness? Are you a recluse? Have you finally decided to change your evil ways and dedicate yourself to god? Lets hope for your sake its the last one. If not I will deal with you as well.
That is all I have to say for today.
