Snap Crackle and Pop
I woke up early today. Around 7:15am. My son has 5 more days of school. December 20th will be his final day and its a half day. He cant wait. He says he wants to stay in pajamas all day and watch cartoons. That doesnt sound like a bad plan.
I nudge him awake and get him dressed. He doesnt like mornings, who does? But I pour him a big bowl of Rice Krispies and we sit there without speaking. He turns on the tv and we watch a little spongebob before we start out to school.
Lately he has been watching spiderman cartoons. Which is good, glad he is willing to try new things. I need him to be open to change and with him that has been very difficult. Downs or no downs syndrone, change for a young child can be difficult.
We load into the car. I remind him to take his book bag with his homework and he rolls his eyes. He never forgets and I never forget to remind him. Its our thing.
And every day that we go to school I get those butterflies in my stomach. Its like as if it were my first day going to school. Silly right?
We get to school, I remind him what time his aunt will pick him up since I’ll be at work and he says I know and gets off the car and hustles into school. I smile and whisper have a good day. He turns back as he is entering the building almost as if he heard me.
And that is how I start my day 5 days a week. Very glamourous huh? Life of a rock start right? I am partying all night and sleeping all day hahaha. Not even close to what my life really is like. I am Mr. Boring and Mr. Responsible. I think that why I make a decent world champion. Week in and week out I have shown up for every match I ever had in I dont know how many years. And each week I give it my all. Each week I show up, if I win, great, if I lose then oh well. I dont like to make excuses. And I dont like to hear them either.
There are a whole lot of guys in SFT with more talent than me. But they lack discipline. They lack the heart to stick with something. That has never been my problem. My problem is I dont have the god given talent they have but I make up for it.
Take a look at my upcoming match at Titans. Twilight is a lot like me but with a much more complicated story. Something I still have trouble wrapping my head around. But nevertheless. Twilight has always been a fierce competitor, and I have nothing but respect for him. But then there is the likes of Travis Deacon and Robert Saints.
Honestly guys, most times you two lack initiative. You lack drive. I am not saying you are lacking heart but such lackluster efforts and one has to wonder.
What gets you guys up in the mornings? What gets you revved up and ready to go? There has to be something. Something to light a fire under you two and get going. I suggest you find that again and bring it to Titans. Cause Twilight and I wont take it easy on you two anymore. Not for one second, believe that.
