The scene opens in a very dimly lit room. We can make out a small window of which the moon is shining into, so clearly its night time. The room looks fairly plain from what little we can make out, but we manage to make out a ghostly figure who is standing by the window looking out into the world.
As he stares at the moonlit world outside, he hears a voice in his head.
Voice: It’s time to go out now….
Ghost: Later….
He shocks himself by saying just that one very simple word. For it’s been a long time since he has spoken out allowed, even to himself. For a very long time he has listened to the world and responded only with the voice in his head…
Voice: So you can speak then….
Ghost: Of course I can speak. I’ve just chosen not to recently…
Again he catches himself of guard, but he continues to hear the voice that’s speaking to him…
Voice: Why have you been hiding?
Ghost: I’ve not been hiding….
Voice: Well then why are you trying to fool people?
Ghost: I’m not trying to fool anyone!
He stops for a moment as the voice goes silent…. But soon enough he hears it again…
Voice: You can’t be him you know. This is not the way to pay homage to those who are no longer with us…..
Ghost: You think I don’t know that already?
Voice: There are other ways you know?
Ghost: Maybe, but I like to do things my way….
And Ghost has indeed become accustomed to doing things his way. He has always travelled a different path, been somewhat of an outcast even in his own world. It’s sad, but very true. The road to greatness is paved with gold, yet when you reach that place it’s never what you thought it would be….
Voice: You should stop hiding now..
Ghost: Why?
Voice: Because this is not who you are….
And for once the voice in head makes sense. Because for all he feels like a Ghost, he is not one, at least not deep down. Ghosts come from the world of those that have been forgotten, but he knows only too well that there is a difference between feeling alone and being forgotten. Maybe he got the lines confused somewhere whilst playing the great game!
Voice: so are you going to fight?
Ghost: Looks like I have little choice!
Voice: Cypher and Saints, they’re going to come after you..
Ghost: I know, I would expect nothing less…..
Voice: Are you prepared?
Ghost: I’m always prepared…
Voice: I mean truly prepared?
Ghost: For a guy who speaks in Halloween riddles and can nothing of me other than I’ll soon be another memory…. Yeah, I think I can handle that!
Voice: And Robert Saints?
Ghost: The self-proclaimed greatest who spends all his time in the gym surrounded by yes men! I’m sure I’ll figure out a way! Have I not always figured out a way? I’ve kept us alive have I not?
Voice: you could lose you know….. You may not be as powerful as you think you are……..
Ghost pauses for a few moments…..
Ghost: Then I lose……
Voice: And you mask that you hide behind, what about that?
Ghost once again pauses for a few moments before responding to himself…….
Ghost: Well let’s put the Ghost to rest shall we?
Ghost listens for a few moments, but he hears nothing…… He slowly moves away from the window as the scene…
Fades to darkness…..
