You know everyone seems to be recalling things about Shadow, how he was, how he used to be, things he would say. So let me have something, one of the things that stayed with me was once I heard Shadow say that he had forgotten the face of his father. And that struck me.
You see I dont talk much about the past, though I have quite a past. You see Glenn my wife, she left soon after my son was born, and she left because she couldnt deal with the fact that he has Downs syndrome. She was weak, I dont blame her for it, I dont hate her for it, I just pity her, she will miss out on her sons life and that is punishment enough. She's an idiot. Nuff said. My mom passed almost ten years ago. I have a sister, she lives in the same city as us. Now I get to my low life sorry excuse for a father. My father used a cliche to leave. One day he tells my mom that hes going to the store to get some ice cream for the family. I was 6 or 7. He gets his wallet and car keys and left and just never came back. Years later we found out he was working in Austin in some plants. He just wasnt meant to be a father, he didnt know how to take care of us. So he took off and worried about himself. I have had little contact with him. He didnt care about his son or daughter, why would I care about him. And thats just the way it is.
So why am I telling all this to Glenn Owen? I dont know. Maybe it sparked something in me when he mentioned he was a new dad. And let me give you some advice from father to father. Its not enough to love your child, you have to be there for them. A child is a reflection of who you are a man and as a father. Be more than your sum.
As for SFT. You are SFT's world champion. You are the best, you have always been one of the best as is evident by just looking over our history. You deserve to lead us and if god wants maybe even end us. But there is more to life than this, as you well know and have found ways to teach us. And for that Glenn I want to say thank you.
