Hey everyone, wanted to give you a few important updates about what’s going to be happening with the site etc. Please take some time to read.
So after a lot of thought I’ve agreed to keep pressing ahead to finish the job on the forum I started. I’ve not spent this much time in SFT since 2001…. I shit you not! I honestly don’t know how long we will last or what the future is, but if I finish what I started then at the very least there will be a shrine to SFT that remains on a little corner of the internet forever, and that’s the least I can do for my dearly departed friend.
Anyway, first things first. I hope you enjoyed the show format this week. I think the images and gifs really do add something to the show. I know SFT is all about creating our own stories through roleplay, but it’s nice to see the results looking so polished. Good thing is that they are easy to produce now that the template is in place to just copy and paste into. A key criteria of mine has been to not only make SFT look spectacular (and without wanting to blow my own trumpet, it’s never looked better in its 19 year history) but also make it stupidly easy to maintain, update, post results etc. So I’ll be writing some user guides and posted them in the staff area for anyone to read in the future. Speaking over the future, over the next couple of weeks, here is a rough list of what I’ll be doing and looking to achieve….
Getting rid of the Shoutbox: Sorry it’s just getting on my nerves, nobody uses it, it’s there on every damn page (and I can’t change that) and I’d rather people use the backstage area. So I’ll be removing that in the next day or so. It can always be brought back in the future should the fed really take off.
Remaking the Chaos Logo: Reno did a great job making the original logo, problem is that it’s just now not in keeping with the site, so I’ll be making something new in Photoshop that better fits the theme etc
Roster Templates: I’ll be creating a template (like I’ve done with the show template, only much simpler obviously) for all the active wrestlers on the roster. It will look a little more professional that just the free text being entered, so that should make a big difference.
Custom Pages: If you go to the menu bar under our main banner, you will see a “SFT Information” button, I put our champions here etc, but it was just a test. But we can now have actual “webpages” like that in the forum. So I’m going to add the following pages…. “Join Us” (Information on joining SFT), “SFT History” (a fairly detailed breakdown of our past, Joey I’m hoping you will help me with this), “Hall of Fame” (Self-explanatory, it will be simple but it will be what it is). That’s probably about it unless anyone else has any other thoughts?
Image hosting: Currently all the images etc on the site are linked to my person neocities account, and that’s not right. So I’ll look for a good and super simple to use image host for all the site images so all future owners/staff can have easy access to it.
Future Forum Layout Tweaks: There is still work to be done on the site template in general. Some of the buttons are the wrong colour etc, it’s just minor things but I’m a perfectionist so this task will just be on-going.
That’s enough to be getting on with. I'm sure there are other things that will come to me, but I’ll just be pressing ahead and doing it all since I seem to have pretty much free rein! Lol That said that’s the way I like it! I’ve put an awful lot of time into all of this so I hope a few of you appreciate that. But in a strange way I am kind of enjoying working on the site. It gives me a chance to brush up on my coding and photoshop skills so I might as well practice whilst doing something practical. Now all you guys have to do is roleplay
