The scene is a hospice hospital on the outskirts of Vermont. The weather outside is perfect. Beautiful, not too warm, not cool, just perfect. Inside though things are not perfect. We see Jude sitting by the beside of Sister Ann Catherine, better known, formerly known as The Nun.
Its been over a year since Jude or Redd has seen her. She is sick. Very sick for her to have ended up in this place, albeit nice but still not a place you want to be. She does not have long. She knows it, Jude knows it. Jude has on a white tshirt, blue jeans, his once blondish hair is now short and thin, almost graying. He looks haggard and worried.
Ann is wearing a hospital gown and her gray hair is pulled back in a makeshift bun. She looks tired, and her face shows age, and the pain she is going through. Jude holds her hands.
Ann: You didn't have to come all the way over here, you could of just called.
Jude: Hush now, don’t you fret. It took me a while to find you. Why so secretive?
Ann: I didn’t want to bother you guys. (she smiles, a weak smile)
Jude: You are not a bother. You never have been. Besides, it was the SFT personnel that tracked you down. (he laughs a short laugh)
Ann: (laughing as well) Poor Harold.
Jude: Yeah right, him and his lifetime supply of hot Cheetos.
(they both laugh at that)
Jude: how are you feeling?
Ann: I’m right as rain. Really.
Jude: uh huh, if you say so Pinocchio. I can see your nose growing.
Ann: please don’t make me laugh, it hurts when I laugh.
Jude: awww im sorry.
Ann: No you’re not.
Jude: hah, probably not.
(Ann turns to look out the window)
Ann: I never did apologize to you or your brother.
(Jude looks puzzled)
Jude: Apologize for what?
Ann: I wasn’t there for you two when your friend Shadow passed away.
Jude: Be sorry for nothing, there is nothing you could of done for him or us.
Ann: Still, I should have been there.
Jude: Well if what you and religion teaches, he’s in a better place right?
Ann: Yes but you two are not in a better place.
Jude: Redd and I are adults we are right where we deserve to be.
Ann: No, you both deserved better.
Jude: Its in the past. So lets not talk about that.
Ann: (with pain in her face) Can I ask you something?
Jude: Anything.
Ann: Do you believe in God?
Jude: Yes.
Ann: Do you love God?
Jude: No I don’t think so.
Ann: He loves you.
Jude: I don’t know what you want me to say.
Ann: Its ok to want to be happy.
Jude: I haven’t earned it. I shouldn’t get a seat in his house. And I probably wouldn’t want it.
Ann: You do. And so does Redd.
Jude: I called him, he’ll be here soon enough.
Ann: Why would you do that?
Jude: Cause if I know anything about him, I know he will want to be here.
Ann: It’ll time for me to go very soon.
Jude: Not quite yet. You still have a lil time left.
Ann: I do not know, but its not up to me at this point. I am in Gods hands. It will be his will.
(Jude looks down at the floor)
Ann: I saw you’re back to wrestling.
Jude: Yes I am not that good. I’m old and slow. Way away from my prime days.
Ann: Maybe but you still look good in the ring.
Jude: nah.
Ann: Who are you fighting next?
Jude: Twilight.
Ann: hmm, he needs some guidance and some more God in his heart too.
Jude: He’s a friend.
Ann: Then treat him like one, in the ring and outside the ring.
Jude: Yes you are right.
Ann: Good, glad to hear it.
Jude: good.
They sit and chat for a while.
And we fade away.
