Its a hot day here in Oklahoma, summer is here, not officially but heat wise. And on hot days like today theres only two things to do. Go to the lake and swim and fish, or buy a snow cone and hide in some shade.
Thats pretty much it. And for me today I am going to buy a snow cone and watch the rest of the world melt away.
I get in my blue pickup and ride off, I head into Spartaville which is the nearest town to us. Its about 25 miles, so its still a bit of drive. One might wonder why drive so far for a simple snow cone. Its simple really. What else is there to do on hot days? I can only sit inside watching TV for so long before I go bonkers. I am an outdoors type person, I like being outside, when I was little it took my mom everything she could to get me to come in once it got dark. I would have rather slept outside under the stars than be in a bed. And to this day I am still that way.
I roll into town and next to Piggly Wiggly is the place I was looking for, its Pattys Sno and treats.
I've been coming here for the better part of a decade. Ever since I found this place I come here nearly twice a week in warm months or summer months. Its always a vanilla snow cone or a blue coconut snow cone, sometimes a pineapple one. She starts off by putting a big block of ice in a steel contraption and turns it on and through an opening on the side, shaved ice gets thrown into a foam glass, soon shes putting the syrupy goodness in and each spoonful of ice soon evaporates in your mouth. It is quite awesome.
It makes me feel like I am a kid again. I soon leave Pattys with a large snow cone, cost 3.75 but its like a 32 ounce cup, its well worth it. Speaking of worth that brings me to Jackson Kent. What happened to you Jackson, you were on pace to get that world title, you were someone people were looking up to, you were a main eventer and then one day you just….gave up?
I guess not everyone is going to be a role model, or a leader, some are just flakes. That pretty much sums it up huh?
