I'm not sure if any one of you like ham or not but if you do, please get a ham with the bone still in it and when you do; don't mistreat your ham... Keep the darn thing out of the oven! That's the worst place for it! Instead, place your ham in a crock pot before filling this pot 3/4 of the way up with water. Then, cook the ham on high for roughly five hours. During this five hour span, rotate it a couple of times, that's it for five hours!!!
Pro-tip: Don't smoke weed during the 5 hours, you'll get extra hungry from the smell!
Anyways, after the five hour period; turn the crock pot on low and rotate it two more times in a 2-3 hour period. Your result will be a ham that's so tender it's already fallen off of the ham-bone and can be cut with a fork. It'll melt in your mouth, yum!
If you like a sweeter ham, you can add your brown sugar and things of that nature but I'll recommend keeping the ham itself, natural. Don't even add salt, let the bone marrow and fat from the ham do the work for you. The juice this ham makes should be saved for the next step. (Beans)
The reason I recommend keeping it natural is because after munching on this ham for a day or two (Depending on how many people eat from it, obviously more will change the outcome of your next project; the ham and beans.)
Take a package of your favorite dried beans, then add the same juice that you cooked your ham in. From there, add four sprigs of fresh Thyme, 2x sprigs of fresh Rosemary and a whole medium sized white onion (don't dice it up, there will be nothing left of the onion if you do)! Also, use black pepper to fit your taste buds.
Take the ham bone, throw it in with the beans and if you've got some ham left; throw it in with your beans and ham juice. Cook all of these things together for roughly 6-8 hours. You'll only need to occasionally stir, about once an hour. Don't salt it unless you're a person that loves heavy salt because the ham juice will already have a considerable amount of salt in it from the meat/fat of the ham.
Anyways, this is what I'm cooking for Christmas eve and Christmas. I wanted to share it with you all in case you're a ham fan. If you happen to like ham as well as ham and beans; I hope you'll give this a try! Merry Christmas to all of you, cheers!
