Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?
What a world we inhabit in 2020. Amongst the fires of populism and the fury of the unheard, wave upon wave crash upon our collective spirit. Death, disease, misery, isolation, fear.
Who has made the world this way?
All of us.
However you believe the world was created, we must accept that humankind has made it as it is now.
And it fucking sucks.
So march to the drumming, show them you're coming
You've been their play toy
Cut to the carving
Bleed them 'til robbing
Enough! They'll take no more
But not all of us are equally complicit in the state of the world. Not all of us are happy with the direction that our world has been taken. Then again, not all of us are at the wheel.
We are pulled along behind the juggernauts of the powerful, careering down a direction that benefits some but not all.
You all know it. Whether or not you watch the news, whether or not you listen to the holy men, whether or not you know why your groceries continue to rise in price but your wages do not.
We are in a world of haves and have nots. I talk about this a lot because while I sit before you as your World Champion, I have so often been one of the have nots. In wrestling and in life.
In the light we'll sing, as all hurt must bring
In the falling cusp of all broken things
In the coming dusk, you will call on us and unite we must
I'm the Crowing!
So, what do we do when faced with a cruel world or a crooked system?
It is important for us to hold up a mirror, to raise our voices and to use our collective voice and collective strength to raise the biggest “fuck you” that we can muster.
Things must change. Not through words but through deeds.
The days of normalised hate, the days of the little man being stamped upon by the powerful, the days of opportunities for friends and family, the days of compliance and complicity with an unjust order.
My story has led me to SFT three times and to two World Title reigns. It has led me to this match with Candace but some things are bigger than the World Title. Some things are bigger than just my story.
It’s time to turn the page.
