Hi everyone, I thought I would put up an official announcement regarding the state of the forum and future plans.
So things have been busy backstage for me. Over the past month or so I have completly remade this old place top to bottom. We have boards, banners, graphics, results templates etc. I’ve messed with dimensions, fonts, type faces and heaven knows what else!
And the strange thing is, I’m still not happy! But that’s ok, the design process is never meant to be finished, only on-going.
Over the past week or so my immediate concern was getting a standard results template in place so that shows could be easily produced backstage. It worked well (for me anyway) and although I shall probably further tweak the design (because I’m simply never satisfied, ask any of my ex-girlfriends) that part of the grand master plan is now complete, and I hope this week’s speedy results show that it works.
Further embedded design templates I have in mind to make the forum look more professional are Match Cards, Title History’s and of course our hall of fame.
Backstage, things have been very quiet, in fact apart from Joey logging in from time to time I’ve been pretty much on my own. I’ve kind of given up asking for feedback or ideas now, so since I’ve started I’m just going to push ahead in making this site what I think it should be. Then when I’m done I’ll be posting a backstage user guide for all the staff on how to effectively operate and modify all parts of this forum, but it’s really not that difficult. That’s the beauty of a forum such as this; stunning results can be achieved without little or no coding.
So in the long term, SFT will have a permanent, professional, fully functional yet easy to maintain home. Taking our home forward and making it survive the test of time into the future…. Well that job won’t be mine. But I can at least provide the platform that others can stand upon. After 17 years and all that SFT means to me, that is the very least I can do.
So stay tuned and I hope you enjoy the on-going forum tweaks. If you see things suddenly disappear, don’t worry, I have everything under complete control….. After all the last time I programmed a ProBoards forum to this level of modification, everything went absolutely wonderfully… until it broke and got deleted and then exploded!
