Im on a memory role now lol
Plus I've never documented this before. It's nothing important, just my memories of something important to me. Id like it type somewhere for the history books.
After he cut his first every roleplay to me (see previous music post thing) I roleplayed straight back, and he finally agreed to face me in a match, his first match since I had entered the federation. at the time I had been here a couple of years, won the title, defended it for a good long while. Whilst I can't remember exactly I believe my record was something like 40-2. (Fox and SchorchD I believe were the two!) Which was some record back in the day when even the mid carders were absolutely awesome writers, and they wrote a lot! I mean like a lot! Now quality is better than quantity as we all know, but back then we used BoardHoast, and each post had a character limit of 10,000. If you didn't write at least that (or the equivalent of using GeoCities.... ahh the good old days) you simply were not trying lol. We had a roster of 40-50 back then and three shows a week (although Breakdown on Sunday was kind as an as and when needed lol)
So we had a match, and being me I spent the entire week on my 2 roleplays. I did the best writing I could, looked back at it and was happy it was the best work I had ever done. And he blew me out of the water! He did so using a combination of damn nursery rhythms and the story of Captain Ahab. Pointing out that he was the white whale, and that should I ever defeat him, then my time in this world would be over. It would have no meaning nor purpose. Sadly many years later I learnt that to be true!
But I pressed on. I hounded him, pretty much stayed around for an entire year doing staff work on the promise that he would fight me once again. True to his word he kept that promise. At this point, we had built it into a story line that the entire fed was watching, one where I became temporary owner of the fed, and people actually brought into it (thanks to damn Joey saying "Hey, put the deadline up!") In fact I believe we didn't have to find voters, we had to have 5 voters because everyone wanted to be a part of the match.
And so round 2, he beat me again! Not as bad as before, but once again he had humbled me!
I retired, he wanted me back on staff so I started producing Titans. He called me out of the blue at random and said "I need you back my friend" to which my words were "You know my price".... He said "I know". That was all we had to say to each other such was our connection. A couple of months before our third match was due, we had both secretly agreed to leave SFT, remove ourselves from the pressure of being "Those guys" that everyone fights once they have won the title, are in the hall of fame etc. Shadow found us a small fed where we could go and just be ourselves, roleplay for the love of it and that was that. But needless to say things never worked out that way. But we did name our match. He said to me "What shall we call this match?" and I said "how about simply...... The Ending". He response was "Perfect".
And so we had our third match. At this point In knew how I was going to beat him, and in fact after I had cut my first promo and he had done the same he actually said "Damn you!". We were forcing each other to reveal more and more of ourselves to the world at this point, digging very deep into personal issues that clearly were spilling out into the open in the quest to defeat each other. So he basically admitted defeat to me..... which is how the fucking son of a bitch won! Because his second roleplay was documenting the time when in real life he had to put his dog down..... and rather than take his dog to the vet, he decided it was his duty to put him down, take him to the forest he loved and put a rifle to him...... just as it was now my duty to put him down once and for all and let him rest in peace! That's how he one our 3rd match, it was without a doubt the best roleplay I have ever read.
