The year is 1944. I was born in Argentina right at the height of revolutions. Che Guevarra was ascending. The 2nd great world war was about was winding down. And everyone seemed wanting to get back to normal. We were aloe farmers. Life was strange back then. While the whole world kept getting embroiled in wars and battled, we were the country time forgot.
In my lives I have spoken different languages. Here I spoke spanish with a bit of internal dialect thrown just for fun. We lived on the side of a mountain. We also herded sheep and goats. We had clean water from the mountain, cold and crisp. We also fished and traded. We made enough to live and what we couldnt make or grow the mountain provided.
But one day, soldiers came. Looking for things they could take to help out their war cause. They had a strange symbol on their clothes, like to intersecting S’s. They were serious, they were angry, and worse of all they wanted the mountain. They wanted the ore within its rock, they wanted silver and gold as well and believed the mountain had all of that and more.
We didnt even get a chance to defend it. We were taken as well, never to return home. Soon after I was in Jeville again. There I stayed until 1949. Five years in Jeville is an eternity, trust me on that. For those who do not know this place, count your blessings, it is like Purgatory but much much worse. You wish existence like those were not possible. Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish the end was really just the end. But it is not. Never has been. We travel after we expire or get expired. We travel to different places, some good, some bad, but always traveling.
I tell you this Emerson but you always mention how worried you are about what will come after you are gone. What will become of you and yours. I have not seen the hand of god in much of what I have experienced, usually the exact opposite. But I know he is out there, and when he moves, mountains and families move. You think your son would be left homeless out on the cold. No, never. You have a sister, there are government places as well. He will be looked after, that I assure you. But that still worries you, one boy in the system no one to love him. But God loves him, just as he loves us all. But that is just the way this world works. God is everywhere, even looking after the damned in Jeville. So Emerson put your heart to rest, be weary no more. Everything will be alright. Trust me my friend, trust me.
Now that I have said, lets get back to our game. Our beautiful dance. We are two men wanting the same thing. My title. And my title is just that. Mine. You cannot have it, at least not right now. That is just the way it will be, until I say otherwise.
