Saturday.
Woke up with my son early, we turned on the tv and watched cartoon channel. When I was a young boy it was all about Saturday morning cartoons, now everyday can be saturday morning if you have cable. And dont think im rich, I pay my neighbor 15 bucks a month to have my own satellite box, he put an extra in his sons room and his son moved out so we helped each other out, he didnt have to both with disconneting it and made 15 dollars back and I got satelllite tv for me and my son. He loves his cartoons and heck im almost a hero in his eyes.
And yet we all know I am no hero. Not even close. But yet there is hope.
There are people in the world who are trying their best to make the world a better place. Doctors, world leaders, Elon Musk, you name it. They do it to help, they do it to make the world a better place. I think if I could have when I was younger, I would of joined the peace core. Seems like a good way to spend your life, helping, giving back, not being a sponge on the world. I think it would feel damn good to get up each day and know your place in the world, know where you belong and that you are contributing to the world, not making it worse. The world is so full of people making the world a worse place. Just full of it. And it makes me a little sad really. But what can I do? I work at 7-11 making change for people buying donuts at 2am. I work a meaningless menial job. And when I leave my job I feel worse for having gone. The people that come through, and all I can think is, what a waste of humanity they are.
And every now and then someone will surprise me. A young lady walked in early evening yesterday. She bought 2 hot dogs, 2 burriots, a large cola, and she promptly paid, she told me thank you, she walked out and I saw her walk a hundred feet and give the food and drink to an old homeless man. And all I can think was, wow, next time I see her, I will buy her a slurpee. Good girl. Whoever your parents were they raised her right. I was proud of her and she was a stranger to me, and it made me want to be a better person. That my friends is hard to accomplish.
But that is what we should all aim for everyday. But so very few of us do.
Which brings me to Lucas Balkan. First Lucas I want to publicly say Thank you for your advice a while back. Do you know only you and Harold bothered to reply to my request, but considering our federation is so small I think thats still a good turnout. Anyway I appreciated your help and your feedback. You didnt have to help me but you did. And that goes a long way to speaking about your character. So Lucas dare I say you are a stand up lad? Would you help a hungry homeless man? Would you help an old lady across the street? Would you volunteer your time and money for a charity? Give up a weekend for it?
The true measure of a man isnt what he does in front of others, its what he does in private and if they are for honorable reasons or not. You strike me as a a man who has honor, though I could be wrong. But I dont think I am. And I will consider our match an honor to face someone like you. But there is more to your story than meets the eye isnt there? More you say. Jack called you a storyteller, and let me tell you right now, that wasnt an insult no matter how he said. The world could use some storytellers, trust me on that.
