The year is May 2nd 1789. We are a few days in our first presidents term. Our very first president ever. George Washington was considered an American Hero and the entire country loved him. My name was Thomas. My father was Henry, my mother Martha. My father was a blacksmith and made a good living. We had survived the great divide and we were now called America and we were separate from England. Life was unknown and all those possibilities were running around us with so many opportunities. We lived in Boston at the time.
On March 2nd 1797 our president came to our town for a speech just to let us know he would no longer be president after March 4th. We were heartbroken, we wanted to make him our king, the entire country was hollering for that. But we had fought so hard to break free of a kingdom our President would not allow it. He was a good man, he was a great man. Most importantly he would come to be known as a founding father. A term of endearment for those first that came before. Thoswho created this land, fought for this land and left blood and tears on its soil.
I lived a privileged life back then one of the few times that I did. I enjoyed it, I cannot deny it. One day when I was 18 I got hit with a nasty flu. I lasted 40 days and succumbed to it. Nothing more than that, no saving grace just got sick one day and passed.
But the point of this story is not about me. It is about the life I led when I lived in the era of those founding fathers. They were not perfect by any means, far from it. But they were great men. I looked up to them as most did. But there were always those who thought they knew better. But every time it came down to fighting they became diplomats or sided with the crown. They lacked a backbone. And never did what needed to be done. They always played all sides and it was sad to witness . Being right didn't mean that you left your morals at the door. Washington and the rest fought for the ability to live life with all points of view valid, and never once asking others to silence their voice. But silence we did, for not all voices should be heard.
So Redd this brings us to you, you are the last founding father left. After you are gone that will be it. No more. We have been going for way over 20 years now and in large part to your unwavering devotion. You fought wars that did not need to be fought. You built a Wall around SFT, and make all others would not hurt it. You did your job. Its OK if you rest now. It’ll be OK. You took care of SFT. You took care of shadow till he passed, you took care of me, and everyone else. Made sure that all those Radiant faces like Gust’s of winds and Bigger Trees, and cities like Reno, and whoever else were around you put more cement on the foundations and reminded us what one man can do if he believes enough if he loves enough. This place should have been temporary like all the rest of the places and instead is on its 23rd year. No one can take that away from you, no one.
So why even bother anymore? Take some rest, be vigil but rest you are not needed to fight, but to lead. So I will show up for our match if you wish it, but I wish you would not.
