The scene is the outskirts of Oklahoma. Jack has been horseback riding all afternoon. Sun is going down really quickly.
He stops by a small stream and lets his horse drink and rest a bit.
“Sun seems to be going away faster and faster these days. I know its due to the recent time change but it still seems to get dark really early in the day. I guess as I get older time seems to go by a little faster. Strange, I used to think I would be a kid forever, now I wish I was still a kid.”
Jack gets a drink from his canteen and gets back on his horse ready to head home.
“I’ve worked hard all my life, to ensure that I had a home for me and mine. Keep my fathers dream alive of his ranch. Take care of my mother as best I can. And through it all I dont think Ive allowed much time for anything else. I havent gone out with a woman in a very long. And I think its high time I start to look for someone I can make a life with. I want to get married one day, have children, be a dad, and grow nice and old.”
Jack brings out a cigarette from his top shirt.
“I smoke Marlboro Lights 100s just like my stepdad did. He hated to smoke but it was a habit, one that I picked up as well. And everytime I smoke one I think of him. Miss ya dad.”
Jack smirks, almost a grin but not really. He shakes his head.
“That is neither here nor there. Right now I should be concentrating on Cassandra and her IC Title. Cassandra you lost a golden opportunity to take the world title. And who knows when you will get another shot. Now you have a bullseye on your back. The IC title is as good as mine. I can feel it. Cant you?”
Jack finishes his cigarette and puts it between his index finger and his thumb and puts it own then lets it drop on the dirt.
So many years of this ranch work I have too many callouses on my hands to feel anything. So the butt of the cigarette holds no pain.
And that is how I am beginning to feel all over my body, just numbness and rarely any pain. The pain I feel is more on the inside, than anything on my body.
So Cassandra this is my first attempt but very likely not my last I believe in trying hard every show and not just when its convenient for me.
Jack is almost home as he is riding home.
