The scene fades in on a gloomy fall day. Leaves have began to wilt only to take their slow descent onto the ground. As mother nature does every year. The chilly fall winds have set in across this region. The camera picks up on a lot of heavy thuds as it turns around to see a shirtless Rumpke who is covered in sweat while he pounds a punching bag with right and left punches of all sorts. The drunken brawler stops swinging and looks at the camera.
First of all Emerson, I don't hate you. I'm sure that I've got a funny way of showing it but regardless of what I am or what I say. I do like you. Yet, when we're scheduled against each other after I've done dedicated myself to show up then there's no choice for me. I can't come out here and be meek like you have done so many times in the past. I'm not that kind of person Emerson. My personality is much more rugged when it comes time to step in the ring or in this case the bar with someone and I'll be especially hard on you because I expect more from you, more so than I do anyone else here Emerson.
Having said that, lets get this going.. Emerson, you've already done more shoot in that last promo where you wanted to proclaim "Checkmate" repeatedly than you have done since I've been gone. Its obvious that I'm getting results from you like no one else has just like I've done ninety five percent of the times you and I have faced off against each other and guess what Emerson. This is only the beginning, we've only just started and we sure as hell aren't done yet.
So let me ask you something, do you honestly believe that you've got me pinned up in a corner? You haven't but for arguments sake. Lets say that you do. What would happen now? I've got no other option but to steamroll through you Emerson; And this is something that I'm more than capable of doing and have done in the past. Not to take anything away from you because I've seen that side of you where you Hulk up in the past. I know that you can get down rite nasty in a brawl and its this Emerson that I want. Not the one that wants us all to sit around a campfire so we can sing happy songs to each other in harmony. This is wrestling Emerson, not a friendly meeting. Friendships, loyalties and all of that must be thrown aside when it's time to step up to each other otherwise you're always going to be a low to mid carder.
I know that you're trying to navigate through the competition your way and while you have been a extremely consistent wrestler. Your way hasn't been working for awhile now. Sure you've consistently been here; And you've beat a lot of the talent here. Yet when you step up to someone who not only won't follow the set of rules that you've tried to establish but will also continue to push you until you crack and decide to abandon your meek ways. Opponents like these Emerson, you struggle with because you're not use to going at this speed. You're not accustomed to get down and dirty like this. You're simply out of your element yet take a good look at you now; You've already "started" to crack. Your already changing your approach to how your writing promos (you're shooting more) and we've only just begun Emerson.. So what are you going to do now? Are you going to continue to change your approach even more and become the Emerson that I know you can be or are you going to run back into another shell so I can insert another piece of dynamite and crack that one too?
Rumpke reaches into his left pocket of blue jeans. A rattling sound can be heard as he pulls out a prescription bottle. The addict twists the cap off and pours a few pain pills onto his free hand. These pain pills, they find their way into Rumpke's mouth before he begins chewing them up only to swallow the broken up contents moments later.
In the end Emerson, you've got three options. You can either continue to improve, stay the same or you can regress back to where you were. And the truth is this old pal. There's only one option that's going to give you a chance against me. The other two are going to seen you beaten down. Checkmate? Nah, your not even close to having me pinned where I can't move. This isn't my first rodeo buddy. Next time you should leave the false proclamations of "Checkmate" out of your promo's so you don't look foolish.
