(Cassandra has just returned home and throws her black leather jacket onto the chair in the front foyer. She heads into the livingroom where the housekeeper is finishing up the dusting. The housekeeper turns to look at Cassandra.)
Housekeeper: Sevyn is still not feeling well.
Cassandra: He still in bed?
Housekeeper: Yes. I told him to stay resting until you arrived back home.
(Cassandra starts for down the hall and goes into her son Sevyn’s bedroom to see that he is indeed laying in bed awake. She goes and sits on the side of his bed and feels his forehead.)
Cassandra: Hmmm….you still have a fever. It’s time to call the doctor.
Sevyn: But I don’t need the doctor Mom. I’m strong just like Dad is. I know I’ll be feeling better later.
Cassandra: I know you’re a strong tough kid, but I’m not taking any chances. Your health is most important Sevyn. Too many damn diseases these days, so I need to have you checked. It could be the sign of something more.
(Her son frowns a bit.)
Cassandra: Don’t give me that face. I’m your mother. I love you. I need to make sure you’re gonna be alright.
(She pulls out her cellphone and calls their private physician directly. She explains the situation and he tells her he will come and see Sevyn in a couple of hours. She hangs up the call and looks back at her son.)
Cassandra: You eat anything yet?
Sevyn: No… Haven’t felt like it.
Cassandra: Yeah, well, you have to try. I’m gonna go fix you some soup and I’ll bring it in here for you.
(Cassandra gets up from the chair and goes to the doorway.)
Sevyn: Mom?
(She turns around to answer him.)
Cassandra: Yeah?
Sevyn: Do you HAVE to go away this week to defend your title against Louis Cypher?
Cassandra: Yes, of course I do.
Sevyn: But why?
(After a moment's pause, Cassandra walks back to her son and looks down at him. She needs to explain something important to him. Call it a little "rule of life".
Cassandra: Sevyn, when someone like me is a leader and a champion, I have a responsibility to do my best on any given occasion. Cypher is challenging me for my Hardcore Championship and I am a fighting champion who will back down from no one. And for the record, I expect the same from you in your life. When you are older, you will understand better that you are to back down from no one. You stand up against ALL challenges and you FIGHT. You got that?
Sevyn: Yes Mom. Don't worry, I will.
Cassandra: Just like with this sickness you have right now. You have to fight it and do your best to get better.
Sevyn: I will Mom. Are you going to beat Louis Cypher so you can bring your title belt back home?
Cassandra: Yes I will be beating Cypher. He isn't going to know what hit him when he faces me.
Sevyn: I'm asking because I'm really enjoying telling my friends that my Mom is a champion.
Cassandra: Ahhh...so you're gloating to your friends about me?
Sevyn: Meh...not a LOT of gloating. Juuusst a little bit of gloating.
(She smiles at him, then she turns and walks out the door as Sevyn watches her leave to go to the kitchen to get him a bowl of hot soup as the scene fades out.)
