Saturday was pay day. Paid off myrent today. Paid the water bill, light bill is next paycheck. And I got 250 dollars left, I fill up the car with gasoline, im down to 230. I go and buy groceries that is 70 bucks and now I am down to 160. 160 dollars has to last me 2 weeks. I set aside another 30 dollars for gas. I am down to 130. I seperate another 5 dollars so that me and my son can go to the dollar movies, we are seeing Ant Man and the Wasp this week. So I am down to 125. I can work with that. I am in decent shape. I know that we will be down on food by mid next week, so I set aside another 30 dollars for balony, ramen, cereal, bread, milk, and sodas. So I have 95 dollars.
This is my life, always counting my pennies. Always cutting coupons. Saving whenever and wherever I can. I decided to hell with counting for one day. So on this early Sunday morning I tell my son we are skipping church today. He looks at me a little suspicious. Because every time I tell him we are skipping school we end up at the doctors office or the dentist. So he has every reason to be weary of such things haha. But I tell him its sunday and that the dentist and doctors are closed, he looks at his little bugs bunny calender on the wall and sure enough it is sunday. He looks at me and smiles and asks where are we going?
How about instead of cereal we go into town and get some pancakes?
Yay is his only response, he asks if we will be buying them at HEB or Walmart? I say neither we are going to IHOP! He bounces up and down in his chair, he cant wait. Every now and then I treat us to something nice. Sometimes if I have a coupon for a free popcorn with any soda purchase we’ll get that at the movies. Sometimes I will take us to Subway and get us a few large sandwiches. He likes the black forest ham, I like the meatball subs, for 5 bucks each you cant beat that. But all in all that has been our lives, coupons, no brand names on food or clothes. Always counting pennies. It sucks but what can you do?
So we get to IHOP and we order our favorite, blue berry pancakes. And we have a nice breakfast and I tell him that since it is Sunday, guess what new Ant man movie is at the dollar movies, lets say you and I go check out the early matinee. He looks at me and says “best day ever!”.
It warms my heart and makes me smile. I wish we could see first run movies but its too expensive. This is one day in my life. Its simple, humble, and all around uneventful. But I like it. Its mine.
A day in the life of Emerson, I am sorry if I put everyone to sleep hahaha. Anyway I would want to see a day in the life of Robert Saints. I wonder if he is all champagne and caviar? Life of the rich and famous. Eating eggs with gold shavings on them, drinking mamosas in the mornings, I hear that is champagne and orange juice (nice). And maybe he goes off to London to clubs and stays up all night. Has a private chef that cooks for him, things I could never afford or imagine. Well at least thats how I imagine Robert Saints life.
Although I have dreams of something bigger and better. I am quite content with the life I have. My son means more to me than anything.
But its time to go all Hulk on Robert. Thats right Robert what you gonna do when Emerson runs wild on you! Hahaha I love how that sounds.
Well that is all I have today.
Goodluck.
