[][][][][][][][][][] A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN [][][][][][][][][][]
We are nearly a month removed from Back to Reality… and I am scheduled to defend the SFT World Championship against former three time champion Louis Cypher in a Hell in a Cell Match. All of that sounds insane, right? I mean… I just showed up in SFT a few months ago. I've had a handful of matches. I should be nowhere near the top of SFT under normal circumstances.
But these times… they are beyond normal circumstances. SFT is two decades old… has an eight man roster… and three singles titles. There are only two shows a month. Things are just weird around here. And here I am… your World Champion… and I'm just as weird as the rest of this.
I've spent my entire career going all around the world, doing whatever I wanted, winning stuff all over the place. And now… I'm a one-fed kind of guy. I'm locked into a groovy contract with SFT that doesn't really have an expiration. I could stay here forever, winning as often as I'd like to. But in a climate of dudes half-assing their way to mediocre performances… just how long will good enough be good enough?
The closer we get to Titans 40… the less motivated I am to compete. When the match was signed… I thought it was awesome. Then it started to dawn on me that I wasn't getting Louis Cypher at his very best. What I'm getting… is mopey, disgruntled, jaded Louis Cypher. I just don't feel like he's got his heart in this battle. That's unfortunate… because up until a month ago, this guy was the face of the company.
He was the guy, the man, the top dog. And now… because I eliminated him at Back to Reality… he's just another salty dude who feels like he is owed something. Sure, he is contractually obligated to receive a rematch against me. What happens if I retain? Then he will complain that it wasn't a FAIR rematch. How could this NOT be fair? They're putting the current champion and former champion in a big ass cage where literally anything can happen. So… no matter who wins… how are Cypher and I different?
If Cypher loses… it'll be another rant about how the powers that be are out to get him and strip away what is rightfully his. If Cypher wins… I will humbly accept defeat and go to the back of the line, working my way back to the top of the mountain. We are vastly different competitors… and that will be further proven at Titans 40. I'm a fighting champion and I will happily defend this World Championship whenever and wherever… against whomever. THAT is what a champion does.
So… again… IF I make it out of Titans 40 with the SFT World Championship… I want to defend against both Saint Jude AND Jack Jones. They both hold victories over the former champion, and neither had a fair rematch. Their victories matter. A win is a win is a win. So... powers that be… I happily accept any kind of deck stacking you can cook up. I'm a fighting champion… and I will continue to be until my reign is ended. If that reign ends when I next meet Cypher… then that was truly meant to be.
Louis Cypher… four time SFT World Champion. That has a nice ring to it. The only problem is that he has already lost it three times, whereas I have only lost it zero times. Zero is three less than three. I don't need common core math to know the difference between our reigns as champion. If I am able to retain the title at Titans… I am totally okay defending it at War, Inferno, Slaughter, Breakdown, Chaos… or pay per view event imaginable.
You could even call a show SFT House Wins LOL and I would STILL proudly defend the World Championship against anyone or everyone. I believe in Fate… and Fate brought the SFT World Championship to me at Back to Reality. If it's over for me at Titans next week… then that was what Fate decided. I know Cypher is having trouble accepting reality since Back to Reality… pun intended… but I truly believe his issues are with Fate itself. Nobody screwed him out of the title. Fate decided I was going to be champion.

[And now… All-Star Comics! Jaime Reyes is sitting in his office, going over merchandise numbers from the past few months since his SFT debut…]
JR: Since Back to Reality… my shirt sales have doubled. Wow!
RD: That's not a surprise. You've been heavily featured in advertising and… oh yeah… you have that. *points at belt in shadow box*
JR: I'm kind of a big deal… or something.
RD: You are, man. I know you don't like to sing your praises… so I'll do it. Aside from a loss where you weren't even part of the finish… you've been untouchable. A month ago… you defeated the entire roster in one match. You are in possession for the top prize in professional wrestling. And you're less than a week away from a hellacious Hell in a Cell Match.
JR: Pun intended?
RD: You know it.
JR: I admit that I've been rather fortunate since signing with SFT at the beginning of summer. All good things must come to an end, they say. What of next week is the end of my World Championship run?
RD: If it ends, it ends. Why do we fall, Jaime?
JR: So that we can learn how to pick ourselves up. Thanks, Alfred.
RD: Hah. I was hoping you'd get that one.
JR: I don't know why I get down about stuff. I try to stay positive. Sometimes… it's tough…
RD: I hear ya. Hey, I know what'll cheer you up. I just signed a contract with SFT!
JR: You what?!
RD: Well, not for me, really. Come with me…
[Rick leaves the office and Jaime follows out into the shop. They go over to a mysterious tarped object that stands just under six feet tall.]
JR: What's going on, Rick?
RD: May I present to you… WrestleBot 5000!
[He pulls the tarp off, revealing… you guessed it… a robot!]
RD: Alexa… power on WresgleBot 5000!
Alexa: Powering on WrestleBot 5000.
[WrestleBot 5000 boots up. Jaime looks shocked.]
JR: I am shocked.
[Told you.]
JR: So, what do you mean you signed with SFT, Rick? This machine doesn't explain anything.
WB5000: WrestleBot 5000 can explain everything. WrestleBot 5000 is a professional wrestling robot, newly signed to Strike Fantasy Towers, a professional wrestling company.
JR: Sure…
RD: Think of me as WrestleBot's manager. I communicate with it and with Alexa, and it will actually compete in wrestling matches.
JR: That's preposterous!
WB5000: Preposterous. Contrary to reason or common sense; utterly absurd or ridiculous.
JR: Exactly!
RD: These are weird times in pro wrestling. You know that better than anyone. Look around, Jaime. Twilight had lived a thousand lives. Nirvana eats babies or whatever. Cypher is probably the fallen angel himself or something. SFT has had gay vampires and evil boxes and a time traveling black son of a white Hall of Famer. And now… WrestleBot 5000!
WB5000: WrestleBot 5000 will dominate all competitions, until WrestleBot 5000 is all champions.
RD: Ehhhhh. There are still some kinks to work out with the language updates.
JR: Is it going to be at Titans 40?
WB5000: WrestleBot 5000 will answer challenge made by Human 404. Hardcore, softcore, apple core, all core, no core. WrestleBot 5000 will defeat Human 404.
JR: Oh, yeah… 404. He just signed with SFT and issued a challenge to Louis Cypher for the Hardcore Championship. There is some confusion about how challenges can go down for that belt. It looks like the situation won't be cleared up, leaving 404 without a match.
WB5000: WrestleBot 5000 will make wrestle with Human 404 and defeat him.
JR: Cool, cool, cool, cool. This show is really shaping up to be a good one. Twilight will surely be the new Intercontinental Champion… Nirvana will hopefully be there to take on Emerson… and I will hopefully retain against Cypher.
RD: Come on, Jaime. Be real. Cypher doesn't stand a chance. He's too busy sulking about his monumental loss at Back to Reality. There's no way he's mentally or emotionally 100% for this match.
JR: Inside that cage… if he is physically 100%... the rest might not mafter.
RD: If so… then you need to give at least 110%...
JR: As always… I will do the best I can, when I can. Ultimately… this is all in Fate's hands…
WB5000: Fate does not have hands. If it did, WrestleBot 5000 would crush them for Jaime Reyes.
JR: Uhhh thanks. I've always wanted a sentient killing machine on my side.
WB5000: You are a welcomes.
RD: Ehhhhh. Come either me, WrestleBot. I've got to work on your language updates. Jaime, don't sorry about Cypher. You're the best SFT has to offer. Everyone else pales in comparison.
[Rick leads WrestleBot to his office to work on updates… as the scene fades…]

[][][][][][][][][][] U MAD BRO? [][][][][][][][][][]
What a wild week it has been. A talking robot is somehow going to be a pro wrestler. I had a great breakfast this morning. And, oh, Louis Cypher buried the Hardcore Championship because he couldn't handle a DISCUSSION about it being on the line in our match on Titans. I want to clarify that I never asked for it to be. His concern was that our match was not hardcore rules. But wait. It's He'll in a Cell! So… uhh… technically…
It doesn't matter to me that he buried the title. There are two too many titles in SFT anyway. What concerns me is that he has this asinine notion that his permission is needed to defend a title. He's still sad about defending it at Back to Reality without his permission. As a champion, it was his job to defend the title when scheduled. If he wanted to retain it, maybe he should have fought harder. It's as simple as that. I totally understand that he wants to win it back at Titans… but if he is going to be such a piss-poor example of a champion… then why bother?
If you can't see how bad of a World Champion you were, Cypher… then go ask Saint Jude and Jack Jones how their rematches went. Both mean DEFEATED you while you were champion, but did NOT recieve a rematch. Now, you've spent the last month crying to the heavens about how you lost the title when he had not agreed to defend it. You can pay your lawyer any amount of money to agree with you… but that's not what a man of championship caliber does. A champion fight. A champion defends. A champion wins.
Fight. Defend. Win.
Three things you are clearly not good at. You say that you have put in the time and earned the right to be called World Champion… but look at what you did in that year. You lost to Jude. You lost to Jack. You had a draw with Jack. The ONLY thing you did since winning the World Title was beat Rumpke for the Hardcore Title. But wait… that match was originally on the card for YOUR title. Could it be that someone forced Rumpke's title to be on the line without his permission?!
HAH! Nope. Rumpke was a fighting champion, and lost his title. Fair and square. Same as you did at Back to Reality. I had the same opportunity as Twilight, Jamo, Kent, Andrew and Rumpke. I had the same chance of walking out as champion as you did. But instead of focusing on what it would take to walk out champion… you took it easy and ended up getting eliminated. Who eliminated you from that battle royal? Oh, yeah, right, me. I am the World Champion whether you like it or not… and I will gladly defend it any day of the week against any challenger.
We are two different people, Cypher. I am the definition of champion and you… you only care about you. I will defend this title for myself, sure… but more importantly I will defend it for SFT and for the fans. Another difference between us is I know my history. I did my research on your title run… and you didn't even know I was part of SFT for a few months before Back to Reality. You truly believed that battle royal was my debut? You were the champion… defending against the entire roster… and you didn't even know I was. That was a mistake on your part.
While you didn't know who I was… you somehow came up with the idea that nobody talks to me, and nobody congratulated me. That's weird… because Rumpke did. I know you two don't get along… but he still counts as a person, does he not? You're right about a few things. I didn't put in my time here in SFT and I have admitted that time and time again. You would know that… if you paid any attention to anything other than the mirror. I was given the same chance to succeed that everyone else was given… and I was able to accomplish something incredible. Instead of seeing the situation clearly… you still only focus on the notion that you are the only one capable of being World Champion.
You're an enigma, Cypher. In your twisted mind… at the end of that battle royal… I was supposed to just give up and let you win? That's insane, man. Now, while I haven't been in SFT for very long… I have spent the last two decades wrestling all around the world. You don't need to lecture me about how hard this life is. If you were to open your eyes… you'd see that I have successfully done this for waaaayyy longer than you have. I have connections with wrestlers and companies all over the world. So, yeah, I am definitely qualified to rally the troops, as you put it.
I've watched SFT for a long time, and I remember when business was good. Right now… with how inconsistent people are… things aren't good. Whether I am champion or not… I will continue to fight to make SFT a better place. I get that you're angry. It's good to have emotions. But what's better is to be able to control those emotions and channel them to something productive. What you're doing… is being a whiny little bitch. I hate to put it thay way… but damn, man… this isn't as serious as you're making it out to be. I will reiterate that there's no conspiracy, there's no plot to take you out. The only one who is going to chase you out of SFT is you, man.
I don't want to run you off… but if your skin is so thin… maybe you're in the wrong business. I will admit that your thin skin is a definite advantage for me inside Hell in a Cell. When we are locked inside that cage… I will make quick work out of you and prove that you're just a delusional waste collector. Why's that? Because you're straight garbage. You speak garbage. You throw garbage. Your title run was garbage. See, I'm not controlling my emotions like I normally do. For those of you with as thin of skin as Cypher, I humbly apologize.
For everyone else… this passion is what it takes to be a successful SFT World Champion. This passion is why I, Jaime Reyes… am now the top guy around here. Once I am dispose of Cypher… I want Jude and Jones… triple threat… for MY title… because they earned a shot by beating Cypher. I will right the wrongs of his title run… because THAT is the kind of fighting champion I am. I won't make bullshit excuses or blame anyone else if I lose to one of them, or anyone for that matter.
The powers that be do NOT need my permission to put me in matches for MY championship. I understand and accept that it is an obligation as champion that I must defend the championship when I am told to. I don't know why that has been so hard for Cypher to understand. Oh, that's right, because he's garbage. Somebody had to finally get real about this whole situation. Only a garbage man would make childish excuses for losing a match. Only a garbage man would claim that he should not have defended the World Championship because he didn't feel like it. Anywhere else… a crybaby like that would have lost the title and not been given a rematch.
But… contractually obligated… so… here it is. Sure, the guy is showing more fire in his preparation for a match than he did for Back to Reality. But when that fire is soaked with tears… it gives off some bad vibes, man. Go on and on about how hard you've worked, and how you've paid dues for a year. That's cool, dude. I'm sorry you feel that this title was taken from you. Instead of crying about it… man up and take it back. If you believe I don't deserve it… then come and get it. Meet me in Hell in a Cell and be better than me. It's not as easy as you might think, dude.
By all means… try your best at Titans 40. Or… in contrast to your performance at Back to Reality… just simply try. If it's such a big deal that the deck was stacked against you… then why didn't you try harder, fight harder, be better than everyone else? You were the current, reigning, DEFENDING World Champion and you took for granted that there was an entire roster of guys who wanted your spot. So… instead of being a MAN and fighting for what you believed it… you were a BABY and threw a tantrum. That's not a good look for a World Champion, man.
It's a good thing I beat you and restored honor to this belt. Instead of whining to my lawyer about silly contract nonsense… I'll defend the title whenever, whenever, against whomever. Once I beat you at Titans 40… I wouldn't even mind defending again and again and again against you. I don't control this title, Cypher… and neither did you. Fate is in complete control… and clearly… Fate has been on Team Reyes for a while now.
But again… if you are destined to be World Champion… and my win was a fluke… and you were screwed at Back to Reality… and I don't deserve any of this… then all of that will be rectified on Titans 40. No matter what I say… or what you say… Fate will put that championship where it truly belongs. If I lose, cool. If I win, cool.
Makes no difference to me.
We're different kinds of people, Cypher.
Obviously.
Obviously.
