[][][][][][][][][][] THE CHAMP IS HERE? [][][][][][][][][][]
I am the current holder of the SFT World Championship, but does that make me champion? Sure, I eliminated the reigning champion from a battle royal… but I didn't really defeat Louis Cypher. I was just as shocked as he was… and definitely as shocked as the world was. I admitted after it happened that I genuinely believed Cypher would retain.
And now, he claims that the championship belongs to him. Maybe he's right. Maybe my win was a fluke that he will soon correct. Maybe my victory was a wrong that he will soon right. If that is true, then nothing I say about this match matters in the grand design of the universe. So I'm just going to get outta here and enjoy my Friday afternoon.
Peace.

Just kidding!
I'm not going down like that, man. I believe in Louis Cypher and what he is capable of. At Back to Reality… things didn't go his way… and that sucks… for him. I feel bad for the guy, because this championship obviously means the world to him. At the same time… given the automatic rematch stipulation of the match… he should have seen the possibility coming that he might not leave with the championship.
If you put Louis Cypher, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Hellen Keller in a room together… Cypher would be the only one unable to see the possibility of losing at Back to Reality. They'd also wonder how such a hangout would be possible when Ray and Hellen are both very much dead. They're not only merely dead. They're really most sincerely dead. You get my point though, right?
Maybe the whole thing is some illuminati conspiracy against Cypher to get the belt away from him. Maybe it's a double agent scenario where it was done to get the belt off of him, only to get it back on him with the rematch clause. Lemme grab some tinfoil right quick to see if any of these scenarios make sense. Come on, dude. Louis, Louie, Lou. You’ve got to be jokin’, dude. Do you really feel slighted against by the power that be? They came up with the most interesting match this company has seen in years… YEARS… and you think it’s all some plot against you?
This match single handedly lit a fire under the asses of a bunch of dudes… and once they were eliminated, the fire was instantly put out and they went back to sitting on their couches like a bunch of chumps. But not you, ohhhhh noooo. No, sir. You come back, hotter than ever, ready to reclaim what’s yours and sit atop the throne once more. Kudos to you, my dude. You're the living embodiment of the fighting spirit of this company. When so many would have just given up… you kept on truckin’ and waving the flag and reppin’ the company to the fullest. That’s great, man. I admire your determination and your focus on being the best of the best.
What you need to realize is… I’m not just some flash in the pan guy who is going to be champion until the first defense and just lay down for the former champ. That’s not how this story is going to play out. You and me… we’re about to go to war, dude. Hell in a freakin’ Cell. It’s going to be the ultimate test of my championship reign… and the ultimate test of your desire to be champion once again. I’m going to fight until there’s nothing left to give… and I expect you to do the same. Will I walk out still the current, reigning and defending champion? Only time will tell…
I assure you that I will do everything I can to remain champion, and I have a feeling you will do the same. See, Cypher… you’re not that bad of a guy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that I see you as the hero of this company. You’ve carried this championship and made it whole again. You have been the guy holding up the pillars of this crumbling organization. You… along with guys like Emerson, Twilight, Rumpke… you have done everything you can to Make SFT Great Again. For all of your efforts… I have to ask you something serious. Was it all worth it? Knowing then what you do now… that this roster would be such a lazy mess of dudes… would you have fought so hard to be the shiniest turd in the toilet?
I don’t mean to offend anyone by any of this. I’m just being real. Things aren’t looking good for SFT right now. See, the powers that be came up with this brilliant match at Back to Reality that was supposed to bring the best out of everyone… draw people in from the woodwork to compete for what is supposed to be the top prize in all of professional wrestling. While we all saw brilliant performances from a wide array of superstars… once the smoke settled and I became SFT World Heavyweight Champion… everyone kind of went back to business as usual. I guess you could say they went… Back… to… Reality.
The reality of OUR situation is that the same powers that be that came up with that battle royal ALSO came up with the Hell in a Cell rematch between the two of us on August 28th at Titans 40. Maybe they cooked this up because the cage was collecting dust from the last time it was used. Or maybe… just maybe… they saw the two of us as the cream of the crop here in SFT… and they see this match as something to turn some heads and remind people… once again… what this company is capable of producing. You and I aren’t just fighting for that championship… or against each other… we are ALSO fighting for Strike Fantasy Towers.
Will you join me in my quest to Make SFT Great Again… or is this whole deal just about you reclaiming what you believe was stolen from you? Do you fight for your country, your home, your people… or just for yourself? That is the kind of stuff that I think about, that keeps me up at night, that keeps me motivated. See, I don’t just see myself as a champion, as a flag bearer, as a torch carrier. I see myself as a beacon of hope for this once-great company. I have sent out feelers all over the country… all over the world… trying to bring in some fresh, new talent… as well as reviving some strong, old talent.
I don’t know how many will answer the call. But hey, Nirvana popped back up and that’s awesome. He’s another one of my idols. I grew up watching his legacy unfold in lucha libre, and now I get to see it up close and personal. Hopefully he can live up to the hype I am creating in my brain. I would love the opportunity to pick his brain and see what’s what in there. That is then, and this is right now. Right now, I must focus on this Hell in a Cell Match. But first… ladies and gentlemen… Conway Twitty...

[][][][][][][][][][] ALL-STAR REUNION [][][][][][][][][][]
[... and now we’re at All-Star Comics in San Diego, California. SFT World Heavyweight Champion Jaime Reyes is finally setting up the shadow box for his championship belt, when in walks store owner Rick Dalton.]
RD: Hey, Jaime. I just got a call from your friend and he’s running late.
JR: Weird. He didn’t call me.
RD: Something about your phone going to voicemail.
[Jaime picks his phone up off of the desk and notices that the screen is destroyed, then sees the hammer on the desk next to it.]
RD: Again?
JR: Again.
RD: Well, he said he’s running late and there’s already a line waiting for him. Do you want me to stall them?
JR: Nawww. Well, how late?
RD: Another fifteen minutes or so.
JR: I’ll go talk to the people for fifteen minutes or so. Maybe I’ll tell some stories about him before he gets here.
RD: Good thinkin’.
[Jaime grabs the championship and follows Rick out into the main part of the store, where there's a line of people waiting for his friend to do a signing. Jaime climbs up onto the small stage and gets their attention.]
JR: Hey, guys. He’s running late… as usual… but I’d like to tell some stories about him before he gets here if that’s cool. Gather ‘round.
[The fans in attendance cheer and get comfortablely packed into the shop.]
JR: Okay. Cool. So, he started working for Strike Fantasy Towers in 2001 at the ripe-old age of 26. Some think that he was only 16 at the time, but that whole timeline was retconned and there was some sort of time warp. I don’t know what or how or why all that happened. So, he started off with some silly gimmick called The Fartaholic. He was teamed up with an old dude called Punkman. When I say old… I mean oooooold. The guy wrestled in an adult diaper. I don’t know the point of all of that schtick, but it eventually lead him on a quest to be Hardcore Champion. He ended up holding that thing six times. Aside from that… he had a bunch of random titles like Lightweight, TNT, United States and Tag Team a couple times. Nobody ever saw him as a “World Champion” kind of guy. Instead of trying to be the best in the ring, he worked at being the best out of the ring. Dude worked his way up the ranks backstage, faster than anyone in the history of this company. He held all kinds of positions like Lieutenant Commissioner, Commissioner, Vice President, President and Chairman. Those promotions took a total of maybe six months. He was truly on top of the world. I don’t remember when it happened exactly… but he ended up striking gold when he was named Co-Owner of Strike Fantasy Towers.
JR: And then… it was all downhill from there. The vision he had for the company, to drive SFT into the future, to embrace new ideas and new technologies… that fell on deaf ears. Being kind of a hothead, he got himself in a heap of trouble and was essentially blackballed from the organization for quite some time. Various attempts were made to get back in their good graces, but he always screwed it up again by trying to overstep and speak up for what he believed in. He eventually came back in 2015 and had arguably the greatest run of his career, leading to a match for the SFT World Heavyweight Championship. He decided that… win or lose… he was going to finally retire from professional wrestling. And then… he did the unthinkable… he WON the championship.
JR: He did the ONE thing that nobody on the planet… including himself… thought he would do. He was FINALLY the top guy in SFT and all was right in his world. He found out his wife was pregnant with their second child, he ended up losing the championship a few months later in a King of the Mountain Match… and he drifted off into the sunset. Three years later, he’s living life to the fullest away from the business he has spent his entire life in… and in a few short minutes, he’ll be here to sign your shirts, hats, action figures, whatever else you brought with you.
[And then, from amongst the sea of fans comes the man… the myth… the legend… SFT Hall of Famer… Nathan Gust! The fans in attendance go wild and Jaime himself begins to clap as he jumps down from the stage and shakes hands with his mentor. Gust goes onto the stage as the fans start to quiet down.]
NG: That was a great rundown of my history in SFT, Jaime. Thanks a lot.
JR: How much of it did you hear?
NG: All of it. I was standing in the back of the crowd the entire time.
JR: And you didn’t think to stop me?
NG: Oh, no, I thought about it. But man… it was good to hear nice things about my run in SFT rather than just about the dark times. You touched it a bit… and I just want to clarify that I never meant harm to the fans of SFT… or even the cast or crew. Everything I did… was meant to get back at my father. Dad and I never saw eye to eye… not until years after I tried to destroy his company. We are a few years removed from his death… and my biggest regret is that I was not able to do the best I could for him, for his company, when he needed me the most. Seeing what has become of his company… of his legacy… it’s a bit disappointing. You have guys like Emerson, Twilight, Cypher… they’re doing their best to keep his torch burning. But when you have guys like Jackson Kent, Jamo and Robert Saints running around acting foolish… it really makes you wonder where it all went wrong.
Fan 1: Do you have any plans to go back and help out?
NG: Honestly, no… no plans. I am happy away from all of this chaos that comes with professional wrestling. My wife and I… we are very comfortable being out of the eye of the storm, so to speak. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t help out if needed. Hell, if I got a call from Joseph Black this minute… I would go back in a heartbeat. Like I said, I regret not being there for my dad when his company needed me the most. If now was the time to go back, I’d go back. But my phone hasn’t rung…
[Just then, his phone rings. The entire room goes silent and Gust looks like he’s seen a ghost. He pulls the phone out of his pocket and looked at the screen… then bursts into laughter…]
NG: Don’t worry, guys. It’s just my neighbor Bill. He’s probably calling because he broke my lawnmower… again. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried explaining that you should mow AROUND the tree stump. The guy is a nightmare to live next to… but his wife makes the world’s best chocolate mousse pie. Anyway. Where was I? Oh, right. I’d go back “home” in a heartbeat, if I got that one phone call,. Until then… I will happily enjoy my retirement, while I continue to watch SFT Tuesday Night Titans to see this man, your World Heavyweight Champion… Jaime Reyes!
[The fans cheer for Reyes, who is just standing amongst them, also as a fan of the man on the stage.]
Fan 2: In all your years with SFT, you only won the World Championship one time… and it was fourteen years after your debut with the company. Is it weird to you that Jaime Reyes won the championship in only his fourth match with the company?
NG: Well, it was actually his fifth match if you include his dark match in 2002. But… to answer your question… no, it’s not weird at all. In my time with SFT... I saw some of the greatest of the greats holding that championship. I'm talking Mad Dogg, ICON, Switchblade, Dave Steel, Glenn Owen, Fox, Damien Sparks, Aj Nin Red Rum. Those were the first eight champions, in order. I know them all because I have a detailed list of every title change from 2002 to 2016. If anyone wants a copy... just say the word and I'll send it over. By the time I won the title in November 2015... I was the 143rd reigning champion. That's insane to think about... but it was such a prestigious title because of all the legends who held it. Jaime won it in only his fourth match this year… because of the lack of depth in today’s roster. I’m not saying Jaime is bad by any means. I think he’s great. I think he deserves this championship… and I truly believe he would have succeeded in the old days of SFT when the best of the best were still around. When you look at today’s roster… it’s just sad, ya know. Before Louis Cypher restored order by winning the title in April… do you know who was champion?
Fan 3: Jamo?
NG: Exactly. See, I didn’t keep too much of an eye on the promotion… but I know who’s who and what’s what. Louis Cypher made that title matter again. When he went up against Rumpke last month and won the Hardcore Title from the hardcore legend himself… he further proved that he was “the man” in SFT. And then, Back to Reality happened. I’m not saying it was wrong to stack the deck against Cypher… because it was the ultimate test of what the guy could handle. He almost pulled it off, too. In the end… honestly… Jaime got lucky and he’s now the champion. It’s up to him to prove to all of you… and to himself… that he can stay at the top. I’m sure you’re all going to watch the Hell in a Cell Match on August 28th, right? It’s going to be the epitome of what SFT is capable of as a company. If that match fails, so will this company. I’ve seen so many times before that this was a sinking ship… and I am very happy that I was wrong every time. I don’t want this ship to sink, to be honest. My father put his blood, sweat, tears, heart, mind, body and soul into this company… and I truly want it to succeed and thrive once again. With Jaime Reyes as its champion… I feel confident in what the future holds. But enough about him. Anyone wanna know more about me?
[And then, every hand goes up in the air… as the scene fades to black…]
