The night has been long. Longer than most. But still I managed to get an hour or two of sleep. Its hot in the summer, especially in the south. I was born in 1804. Not a bad year. I was 13. My name was Oscar. I was named after the poet, though my parents could hardly read themselves.
We were living along the coast of North Carolina. My father was working in the tobacco fields. He would plant and harvest. Come winter we would fish, and try and make a living that way. It was a hard life, but when has life not ever been hard?
My parents were Cora and Joseph. They were both born in England. They never regretted coming to America. As they put it, it was an opportunity to start fresh and make their own stars in the heavens. And try they did. I never knew a harder worker in my life than my father. And my mother, just as strong and brave as he. Everything we had we either built with our own two hands or we hunted or fished for it.
When I was 15 I joined a crew to go out whaling. Back then whale meat and blubber was used for everything, from food to oil. But before our first voyage I got bit by a weird spider and no I didnt become spiderman. I died. I died and went to Jeville. It was strange, because most times I felt myself being swayed into that great dark ocean. But not that time, that time I wanted live. I wanted so many things.
And so I get to the meat of my story. Life, death, and everything in between. It only matters when you are alive, once you pass you forget everything and everyone. Much like I wish I could forget andrew and Jamo. They seem to be pretty much a waste of time, and thats sad because for a while Jamo held that world title. But he seems lost now. Lost like he never held it. He doesnt seem like his old self but theres nothing I can do to fix him. Nor should there be. Only they can fix themselves. I hope they at least try.
Then later on in the night I have another match, talk about being an Iron Man, that is me. I face a newcomer named Jamie Reyes. I find the match up intriguing but itll probably be a lackluster showing from the SFT rookie. But heres hoping he puts up a better match than Jamo and Andrew.
You can want a lot of things in life, it doesnt mean much.
